Mod Skills Scrutinised
Today I attended a mod skills training workshop, run by AQR. Moderation is a huge part of my job as a quallie, so the thought of having this scrutinised externally by some very experienced researchers was initially pretty daunting.
I neednt have worried though! A friendly and comfortable environment was created straight away. Attendees ranged from those who had never moderated a group before to those who moderate more regularly and were looking for feedback, all drawn from a variety of agencies and clients.
Earlier in the week we had been given an introductory webinar, and the day reinforced many elements of moderation, including helpful tips on projective techniques and moderation styles. We were even given moderator goody bags, filled with useful things that every savvy moderator needs (as a bit of a stationery fiend, I particularly appreciated the Sharpie!). The day culminated with the main event: moderating a group ourselves, and receiving individual feedback.
Overall, it was superbly organised and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
