Consultation

A term used especially in the public sector, this refers to research that has a dual role. That is, as well as deriving information with which to formulate or evaluate strategies for action, it seeks to build a positive relationship between the commissioning organisation (such as providers of a public service) and those being researched (typically users of this service, or those delivering it to the public).
