ISO 20252

ISO 20252 is an international standard entitled "Market, opinion and social research, Vocabulary and service requirements". Originally published in 2006, the latest revision is dated 2012. It superseded and replaced the British Standard, BS 7911:2003.

ISO 20252 establishes the terms and definitions as well as the service requirements for organisations and professionals conducting market, opinion and social research. It sets out requirements for a quality management system.

ISO 20252 requires senior management to be responsible for quality of client service, and the development, interpretation and continual improvement of the system. It also requires the appointment of a quality manager with sufficient authority to be responsible for and have control over the entire system. Other issues covered by this standard are requirements for confidentiality of research, project documentation, training, and outsourcing.
