The Association for Qualitative Research
The Hub of Qualitative Excellence

Respondent Agency

A qualitative methodology that creates a transparent partnership between researcher and respondent. The researcher provides full disclosure on research objectives, research methodology and sample design to the respondent. In most instances, the respondent having observed the researcher (or been trained by the researcher) conducts interviews or discussions independently. In all cases the respondent actively contributes towards the development of a research report and/or the analysis process.
