Learning a new language is never easy, and so anything that makes the process more fun is welcomed.
Not a new app, but one I recently discovered, Duolingo is a free app that allows you to learn a number of languages perfect for the roaming researcher.
By gamifying the learning experience, time seems to fly by, and before you know it, youve completed your target 20 minutes for the day. It does have its limitations, and is no substitute for speaking to native speakers, but it is definitely worth a download to keep your hand in.
